Further exploration of dungeonous basement of Death house, led the party to the discovery of a prisoner. A mysterous Tiefling. The group made a haphazard escape from the clutches of the the haunting manor into the oppressive fog of the Village of Barovia. A morning of wandering, though who can tell if it was morning, noon or night with this infernal dampness, seeking the source of the incessant wailing brought the party to the home of Mad Mary, a poor villager mourning the lose of her daughter. Getting nowhere, as our trusty adventurers sought out the nearest tavern.
Splitting up (this is now a trend) we meet Ismark, called Ismark the Lesser for he has spent his life living in the shadows of his father the burgomaster (mayor).
The party learns some things here, Ismark needs your help to get his sister Ireena to safety. Ireena has had several encounters with Strahd, and Ismark fears the worst, the longer she stays in Barovia the less human she will become.
Off to the Burgomasters Mansion. For one, it is little more than a larger run down shack compared to the rest of the village, but hey, it is larger.
Meeting Ireena, we find out the burgomaster is dead these past several days (about the time the party arrived in the village, go figure). Ireena will not leave until her father is properly buried in the village cemetery. You are also told, the letter that started your quest did not come from the burgomaster.
Off you go to the cemetery! Splitting the party, seriously, you all make this too easy, several members went on ahead to scout out the scenario while the remaining party caried the body along the main road.
Upon arrival at the chuch, the scouting party immediately recognizes something is not right here. The pastor is distraight, and shady about why.
Once the full party arrives, the truth comes out, the pastors son is in the basement, having been trapped there by his father after becomming the very thing he set out to hunt - a vampire!
Whelp, time to slice and dice, but what do you do with the pastor who is wholey against this course of action? Bonk him on the head and go slay his son like any good murder hobo would do.
After the bloody encounter, our heroes gather outside the chuch to commiserate on your next steps.
I, Strahd, leave the battlement of the castle to prepare for the night to come....
